Cleanway Technology Corporation was born in 2001 out of the Herma Group's desire and commitment to help alleviate the garbage crisis. Its first major milestone was the rehabilitation and modification of the Las PiƱas Transfer Station into a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), which processed over 600,000 cubic meters of municipal solid waste for Metro Manila cities. This was done in compliance with R.A. 9003, otherwise known as the Solid Waste Management Act.
From being government's partner in providing solid waste management solutions to local governments and communities, Cleanway has broadened its focus to include hazardous and bio-medical waste management solutions for industrial partners. It is now the first and only company in the country to offer comprehensive, end-to-end waste management services, including: waste collection, transport, and storage; waste treatment and solvent recovery; and secure disposal in the only secure, privately owned, double-lined landfill in the country.
Cleanway believes in using only the most appropriate and environmentally sound technology for its waste management operations. Its Integrated Hazardous Waste Management Facility is the first of its kind in the country, using brand new and internationally certified technology to be able to process up to 40 tons of waste daily in an industrial estate located in Silang, Cavite. It complies with environmental standards and provisions set forth by the Clean Air Act and R.A. 6969 (otherwise known as the Nuclear and Hazardous Waste Act), and it has been issued an Environmental Compliance Certificate (No. 4Q-2003-960-120) by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-EMB Region 4).
